Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all version of SongShow Plus

 * Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *

Symptom:
When starting SSP, you get a message indicating that data files are in use by an older version of SSP.

Possible Cause:
Most likely there is or were older versions of SSP in use on the local machine.  This is an informational message that indicates there may be an older version of SongShow Plus on the machine.  In some cases, features and content are not always forward compatible so this is to advise that older version or files may be in use.

Solution:
If you have fully transitioned to the latest version of SongShow Plus all older versions can be uninstalled.  Reminder - this will not remove any data files.  If you are still reviewing a new version you can keep them both.  Best Practices would be to only use the latest version.

In either case, you can adjust the informational message as follows:

  • From the Notice window locate the Older Version Detected message.
  • Click the More Info... link at the bottom of the message.
  • You will get a message asking if files are still being used by another version.
    • Select Yes if you are still using an older version. This will NOT remove the message and it will be presented at each startup.
    • Select No if you are NOT still using an older version. This will remove the message.
    • In either case select Close to close the Notices window.

Possible Cause:
If you are using SSP on a network and sharing the data files with other systems that also have SSP, it is likely that one of those system does not have the latest SSP version.

Solution:
Make sure that all SongShow Plus systems on the network or using the same data are running the same major version of SSP - i.e. Version 9.x.
