Text color changing when adding or removing effects in SSB

6/6/2007

Symptom:
When editing slideshow text in SSB, sometimes the text color may change when adding or removing effects.

Possible Cause:
When editing slideshow text in SSB, sometimes the text color may change when adding or removing effects.  This is related to the Default vs Defined in Object color assignment.

Typically, when the color is set in the defaults they are transferred to each slide.  When an item specific edit is made to an object, it may change the color setting from Default to Defined in Object and not preserve the color already selected.

Solution:
This can easily be resolved by changing the color in the text properties tab to the desired color.  This will prevent subsequent changes to color in this text object when adding or removing effects. You can also prevent this from happening by selecting the color in this manner first.

To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Right click on the text object in question and select "Properties..."
  2. Click on the Text tab and find the color selection. If not already selected, choose "Defined with Object"
  3. Select the desired color in the drop-down to the right.
  4. Click OK.

This will prevent this behavior on this text object.  Repeat on other text objects that have the same behavior. We may address this in a future build.
