Version 8.1 > 8.1 production?

I see here that 8.1 is supposedly in production.

But when I check updates from my 8.0 SSP, it only takes me to Version 8.0 Production Build 9/10/2014. 8.1 is still listed as test.

The caption for that link needs to be updated, but it is a production release.

Thanks for clarifying

Okay. I got it. But how many times do I have to reset my freaking preferences? This is just a point release.

I'd really like a way to import preferences between installations, between machines and between versions on the same machine.

I agree, it's becoming extremely frustrating to have to reset the preferences every time. It's frustrating enough between version upgrades, but even worse for point releases.

UG! It's even forgotten the CCLI and Shift Worship accounts.

Yuck. I don't have time for this kind of do over.

@hamiltonag, @Joel,

Regarding preferences and authentications: I understand the frustration. With SSP 8.x, changes have made so that you can install these versions side-by-side. To make this happen, each version has its own separate set of settings and state files, and the files are not necessarily compatible from one version to another. For instance, the settings for the stage display in 8.1 are considerably different than those in 8.0. We'll look into a way to help migrate settings from one version to another going forward, and will explore some "undocumented" procedures that (if work reasonably well), may help those of you who are comfortable with such things for now.

An update on this: The next 8.1 update will include a process that will copy the settings files from 8.0 when SSP is first run, or more specifically, will copy 8.0 settings files if it detects that there are no 8.1 settings files already in existence. However, only settings that are compatible with 8.1 will be preserved. In this case, that will be most of them. The settings that aren't compatible between 8.0 and 8.1 are mostly related to display settings.

Sounds good. Thanks Doug.
