System temporarily freezes at random during video playback

(TS018) Symptom:

When playing a slide show or advancing through a program in SSP, the system will freeze for a short time during which the mouse is unresponsive. This happens most often during a transition between two videos.  After 2-5 seconds, SSP will resume playback normally.

Possible Cause:

This problem has been identified in the nVidia video card lines 7xxx and 6xxx with drivers dating back to March of 2006 through the time of this posts. The issue seems to be due to a problem with the nVidia drivers. The problem affects SSP V7 through the October Edition. It may also affect later releases of SSP 5.5.

Hopefully, nVidia will fix the problem with a new driver release. In the meantime, there is a work around available. Refer to the NVIDIA Graphics Cards and temporary system freeze (HI006) Knowledge Base article for more information.
