persistent start up alert - Unable to make a complete conversion from an old-style effect: Bevel Edges

6/6/2007

Symptom:
The following alert is occuring at each startup of SSP.

"Unable to make a complete conversion from an old-style effect: Bevel Edges. One or more slides may not appear as expected."

Possible Cause:
This is most likely caused by the changes to the Beveled Edges effect that was included in SSP before the April 2007 Edition release.

Solution:
If you are getting a persistent alert like the one shown above when starting up SSP after the April 2007 Edition release has been installed, simply go to the global display properties and select the Factory - Default setting and this will no longer occur at startup.

You will of course still receive this or similar messages when running content created in pre-April Release builds.

To Resolve:

  1. When SSP is open select the following from the main toolbar - Display - > Edit Display Properties...
  2. In the Global Display Properties window click on presets>> to access the preset list.
  3. Click on Factory - Default
  4. Click OK and close SSP
  5. launch SSP - Alert should not occur
