In slide show builder - what happened to be able to add scripture into a text box. It seems to be gone. I have used that feature for years when building slides for sermon onscreen sermon notes. All I had to do was click the "T" in the toolbar at the left, click "scripture" and a box would come up that let me choose book, chapter and verse, "insert" and pop, it was in the text box. That seems to be gone and I am very unhappy about that since I have used it a lot for years.

They have a new "Insert Scripture Slide" feature.

But I didn't think the text box scripture insert was going way.

I see that when you add a text field - Scripture Text on a slide, it inserts a text box with the words "Scripture Text". Same with Scripture Reference.

That's what I'm talking about. I really need that feature back. I just wondered if they moved it and I haven't found it yet, or they left it out or what. If they left it out, it needs to be put back in. I can't be the only person that used that. Now I have to go to another scripture program, find the scripture, and copy and paste it into the text box. Much aggravation doing my typical sermon notes for the screen which involves 12-17 slides.

Can you use "Slide -> New -> Scripture Slide" for now?

No - that does not do what I need to do. I build a series of slides, each slide has text boxes within it into which I have bulleted important points, scripture verses, etc. fly in. SSP support tells me that what I have been using has been taken out of the slide show builder. I am very disappointed to hear that as it causes me quite a bit of extra work. I hope they will put it back in there as surely I'm not the only person that uses that.

Another issue in the latest beta version in Slide Show Builder is the little box at the bottom left that listes the items that are in the slide. I had been able to click and drag those if I needed to change the order in which they would fly into the slide. Now it will only let me move an item to front or back, no dragging anymore, so if I need to move an item just one item back, it is complicated to do it.

The ordering bug and a work around has been discussed in another thread. I can't remember what they came up with, but the bug is on the list.

Could you, as a work around for the scripture, insert a Scripture slide with the scripture you want and then copy that text object back onto the slide you were working on? Still a few extra steps, but you don't have to switch between programs that way.

Just a thought.

Do You mean that you can't Just highlight the Scripture on the screen and "Paste" it into the test box anymore. If that's the case it's no good. I always Put my Reference(underlined and centered) Just above my Text. Also does this mean that I can't just highlight just half of the scripture for pasting Just like the Pastor is going to read.

I don't have good feelings about this.

That seems to be exactly what it means. I often would highlight just the portion of a verse or verses, click insert, and there it was in my text box. That is gone and it is something I used a number of times every week.

I too used the scripture text box the way Chris and Pandjhill did. I knkow this new process will be a bit more cumbersome, but I can live with it. In the released version, I still hade to cut what I wanted, delete the unnecessary box, and then past into the box I was already using, so it's not much more difficult.

Well, the point of the new features isn't to make things more cumbersome. Frankly, I thought the previous way of adding scripture text to slides was too cumbersome, I didn't even use it myself because of that. But I can see that if you are mixing in scripture text with other text that the previous mechanism was better suited for that process. I'll look into reimplementing that (or a similar) mechanism.

I appreciate your response and I look forward to possibly getting that feature back into it.

Thanks Dreece.
Do you think this will be "reimplemented" in the April version; or should I just stay away from the update this time around?
