You Tell Us! > Selection of backgrounds for songs.
But for the youth and contempory services we use background improv and any number of backgrounds.

I usualy pick backgrounds that fit the song. Since our songs are not usualy in line with the sermon. We use our worship to prepare our congregation hearts to recieve the Word. Ususaly people are so moved by our last song, they are prepared for God to touch their hearts.

I use motion exclusively, anything from Digital Juice loops to long play videos. I normally try to pick backgrounds that will cover two or three songs each and keep my selections to no more than three per service. I feel if I try using a different one for each song it gets too "busy".
What do your churches use for backgrounds? Motion backgrounds, Still images, Solid Colors, or Slates (such as the Blue-Green Texture)
Where Do you find these?
How much time do you spend looking for these Backgrounds?
I'd like to try this but am unsure if I have the time or resources to look for Meaningful Background Files.
With our lower powered projector, we had to be real careful of what images we used and what color text we use on which images. However, with our new projector, we really haven't had a problem.
You can go into Advaced Effects for your image or motion background and adjust the brightness and contrast, color and lots of other things to see if it works. Of course. that's not going to help your DVD guy.
You could also make colored rectangles and layer them over the image or video, where you want the lyrics and adjust the opacity as appropriate.
We use a lot of images from Churchmedia.net. It costs $39/year for a pro membership to access their Media eXchange Center (MXC), with over 18,000 images and videos (mostly images). (Disclaimer: I hung around the place so much, they made me one of the moderators.)
You can go over there and browse for free. You just can't download videos or look at the full size graphics.
Quite often we layer these with abstract videos, such as some of the stuff from Digital Hotcakes or one of the build in visualizations, like Gradient Motion, to add some interest and to tie the entire program together either with theme or color scheme or something.
This softens the videos and, when combined with the right graphic, makes them more connected to the songs and theme.
Hope this helps.
Heres some places for some of the motion backgrounds we use.
I have also made quite a few of my own,

There are plenty of others as well, I am sure people will add to this.

We typically use the same background for all songs in one service, but change backgrounds from week to week.
We feel like we are part of the instruments of the song - we will change backgrounds (within reason as the Spirit leads) during the song several times - we tend to use brighter backgrounds as a song builds during a Chorus for example.
I also create a lot of my own backgrounds.
