What is the latest / best version of WinDVD to use with SongShow Plus to achieve the best MPEG2 video background and DVD playback?

According to this support article, WinDVD 4 or 6 will work well. 7 is right out.

I used a demo of WinDVD 7 shortly and didn't have problems. But then I purchased WinDVD 4 of off eBay for a little bit of nothing and haven't had any problems with it, either.

I seem to remember hearing that SSP V7 wasn't as picky about which version of WinDVD you had, but I don't recall where and I may have been dreaming.

But as far as I know 4 and 6 are the offically supported versions of WinDVD.

At one time there appeared to be a problem associated with WinDVD 7 -- it seemed to create problems when playing MPEG-1 video files. However, later tests with a more recent release of WinDVD 7 did not exhibit these problems. Our official position is that WinDVD 7 is okay.
