How do I add live video through SSP. I tried at home using simple built-in camera and it works fine. However, in church we have 4 cameras controlled in our video room. What do I need to do to get that live feed? Once I get it added as a video device, I would be able to use it as a motion background. But I need to know where to start on getting it added. Is there a list of supported video devices? Do I add through USB, HDMI, S-Video, etc.? Or is it impractical to use this feature through SSP?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The normal input to the PC is by firewire or some sort of video capture card that will capture composite video. OR you can buy an upscale Decklink card.

With firewire or a typical composite capture card, there is noticeable lag, so you really wouldn't want to use that much, especially for music.

A better option, if you have the equipment, is to put a solid background in SSP that can be keyed out and let your switcher do the overlay. That will give you the most control with the least lag.

As I understand it, the Decklink option is quite good and allows you to use the video background with no lag. But I dont' think that's something you're going to run out and pick up on a Saturday night.

I wasn't planning to use it during the Saturday night, though it would have been cool. Currently we can display live video through a DVD recorder; however, I want to be able to use live video as a background for words during special nights/concerts.

Currently I have two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 cards. Would I need to buy a Decklink card to accomplish what I want? I only have space for two video cards.

The Decklink Card is a video Capture card not a Display adapter per se.

Here's a link to the Balckmagic Page for the Deck link product line

The DeckLink cards can be used for capture, but they can also be used for the text-over lag-free video implementations. http://www.songshowplus.com/DeckLink
