I have downloaded and installed the new WinDVD 9 and it runs and works outside of SSP 7 (build 11/17/08) with no problems, If i import the DVD through ssp7 in to the program and play it i dont get any audio.  I have looked through the knowledge base and saw a user downloaded the  AC3 filter and it fixed there problem with audio, i tried the download with no results it still does the same thing. Any idea what this could be?

I can't give you an answer other than to say that according to knowledge base article SW020 WinDVD 9 is a currently unsupported version which may be part of the problem - hopefully they will test it soon and then be able to give an answer.

I took your advise and removed WinDVD 9 and loaded win dvd 7 and it didnt help it now wont even reconise the dvd drives at all. I have removed the ssp7 and the windvd7 and the AC3 filter and tried to reload it all and i still cant import a dvd at all now. I tried to talk to one of the tech folks at ssp and there answer was the only thing that needs to be on the projection computer was ssp and a sutible dvd codec ie windvd7 or power dvd 7. At this point i may have to look into another program because i cant get any support from the ssp folks and it is crazy to think the only software on the projection computer should be just ssp. we are not a big enough church with unlimited resources to support that kind of idea. I have to edit pictures and video and what ever eles comes our way, never had this many problems until moveing to ssp7.

I would call SSP Tech Support and have them look at this.

Time to start digging a bit deeper I think.

Does the DVD play correctley in windows media player?
IS the DVD PAL or NTSC format?
Try downloading and installing the K-Lite codec pack as that has a lot of the common codecs in it.
Is this the same with all DVDs or just one or two?
If I remember correctley then WinDVD (or it may have been PowerDVD) leaves behind bits of itself when uninstalled which SSP may be picking up and still thinking that it has the wrong version installed and looking for the wrong thing as a consequence - I will have a search and see if I can find the topic.
Try using Media Info to analyse all the files on the dvd to see what codecs they require and then whether they are installed.
What other DVD playing software have you got installed - there could be one that is causing a conflict.
Are you running windows XP or vista and what version?

You mention that you have already spoken to SSP Tech support and that they were unhelpful - Am I correct because they are usually very helpful so it would be surprising if they didn't go further - I am not saying that you are wrong in what you say but that in my experiance of reading the forums people don't normally have a problem with them.

Hope that begins to help - come back and let us know how things went and any other information that may be useful to us to be able to help you solve the problem.

First off I am sorry for not getting back very quickly; I am a lay person trying to work the magic with a tight schedule. We run XP sp2 - SSP 7 - This all got started when we had a video card problem we were asked to look into another card so I got with the tech support for ssp and asked for there suggestions they pointed me in the direction we went with. Now I don’t know if it happened the day I installed the card or not it was a little while later when I needed to play a DVD. At that point it would import but not play audio, since then with all the suggestions on line and with tech support it won’t recognize my DVD drives now so I can’t even import any more. The DVDs all play on the Computer out side of the SSP 7 just fine. I have removed windvd 9, & 7, and I removed power dvd 7 trial, removed and reinstalled the SSP 7, and installed the powerdvd7 deluxe version but it hasn’t helped. I have almost come to the end of my rope with this as I don’t have very much time to mess with this on a given week. Short of starting fresh with a clean install from the os system to the ssp 7 I have nothing to go on.

When I supervised PC techs, I always suggested that they make an image of a computer's HDD before rebuilding. That way, if the rebuild doesn't resolve the issue, you can restore the image. This will prevent the hassle of reloading everything.
