We have now got 2000 songs on SSP.  but having a few problems:

backup and restore doesn't work that well, so i copy and paste songs between computers, putting songs in the shared folder (in the songs folder), and then rebuild the indexes.

that has worked for 1000 or so songs. put another 1000 on and did the above,to find a message that said "out of memory" and didn't rebuild the index or collections. (have 1GB of memory)
this has happened on 2 machines.

is there a limit to how many songs you can have on SSP?????

Also had a Catastrophic error, details here:

Has anyone else got this number of songs and had this problem?
If you are wondering why so many songs, it is that our churches have 3-4 different books, and we have entered them all in, for convience when ewe have visiting ministers and for our selection.
Hope to put on more yet.

Help please.
Thanks, Jody

I am not sure about the limit, but is it really necessary to have that many songs? Do you have any duplicates than can be eliminated by using program specific verse order? I just cannot fathom that many songs. I hope tech support can provide an answer.

Hi,  You need to check for updates and download with the latest dated 9/13/6.  It should fix the problems with the catastrophic error.  What happened was that after ssp came out with V7, song select changed their format.  We fixed that in the release update for 9/13/6

Can you break the songs into different collections? I don't know if that would help. But I think that's what I'd try.

I have them in 6 collections. was wondering if you could do what the stock hymns/christmas songs have, be able to turn them off and on. Can we put them in the same location and would they register as an entry? in (tools/utilities/song database sources)? then yes, if this was possible,we could reduce the amount of songs.
thanks for your suggestions.
I have upgraded to the latest august update.

Do you mean the August 2006 Edition, Update 9/13/2006 version?

That is the edition that I meant. Aug 2006, updated 9-13-2006

Maybe Doug needs to start numbering them, like

Version 7 August 2006 Edition 09/13/2006 Version 7.06.08.09
Version 7 August 2006 Edition 08/08/2006 Version 7.06.08
Version 7 June 2006 Edition 07/19/2006 Version 7.06.06.08
Version 7 February 2006 Edition 05/25/2006 Version 7.06.02.05

Or he could number them sequentially, rather than with the year and month.

But that way, we can keep track of version, release and modification level.

Actually, this particular problem is probably not related to the CCLI issue. There is a known problem with large databases and the native SSP database. You might consider using the User Database module which can handle a larger number of songs.

Yes it can, however it has a couple of bugs with song keys and sequences. If you rely on these then the User Database won't work for you - plus copying 2000 songs into that format would not be fun. Tech support have not given a timeframe for fixing these issues yet.
