Hi there,
We have been using Easy Worship but have just switched to SSP. How can I import all our Easy Worship songs into SSP?

Thanks in advance!
Steve.

I had recently gone through a similar process, converting from Media Shout.. the bad news is that there is no Fell Swoop method, that I could find, to import the entire DB.

So looking at the Song -> Create, Import menu from SSP you will notice several options. The two that I used are:
- Clipboard
- SongSelect Download File

I did the import week-by-week, song-by-song, e.g., On the first week, I converted all of the songs used that week, on each successive week I imported all songs from that week that had not already been converted. That process took about 4 months (in the minutes each week that I created the projection program), but toward the end, I was doing about 1 song a week.

SongSelect Download File:
This is your best bet. For each song, log onto SongSelect, search for the song (hint: search for exact title and 'author contains' to narrow down the result set).
When you down load the file and import it into SSP, most of your work is done. You now just need to go into SSP and set the verse order and setup the display properties.

Clipboard:
This is also very good, though it took me a little while to figure out how it worked. By either using  copy-and-paste or by doing a song export from the other package, I created a text file that contained the entire song. Then, in notepad, selected all and copied  the entire song onto the clipboard. After that, I imported the song in SSP from clipboard, and went through the captured clipboard contents and choose text (e.g., verse 1) and then touched the 'Verse 1' button, that text is now verse 1 in the new song. After going though all the text wanted, field by field (verse 2, chorus, author, title, etc.) and doing the same thing. When done, the song is imported into the SSP database and I did not type any of it.  This whole process: exporting from the other package,  notepad select and copy, and the clipboard import only took about 2 or 3 minutes (if that) per song (after a learning curve of 2 or 3 songs)

I hope this helps.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your help. It's a bit annoying that it is a total manual process, but I guess we only have to do it once.

I guess we only have to do it once.

And using Mike's suggestion, you don't have to do it all at once

Another possible option could be the XML import tool...

I don't know what the format is for the EW songs but if you can convert them to the correct XML format, you can import them much easier into SSP.
