Hi!
We are using Songbeamer (a german presentation-sw) in our services.
our songs (more than 200) are there in Songbeamer's own format called *.sng, a format editable with a simple text-editor or Songbeamer itself.
But now we want to drop this and use SSP.
My problem:
how Can convert the sng-files to SSP-songs?
yours sincerely

i've not heard of it, but you'd have o do it one at a time.Open your sng file in notepad, copy it to the clipboard (select all and copy).
Then, in SSP, go to the song panel, new, import from clipboard.
If you do th ones you neend each week, it shouldn't be too bad.
If you have CCLI SongSelect, many people prefer starting new and importing the songs you need each week.

If you can copy the files to another directory, with a file type of txt, you may be able to use the Create, Import From>SongSelect Download File... option under the Songs menu.
Open a command prompt (CMD from the Start>Run/Windows menu) and change to the directory where the files are located (cd C:\Users\user\Documents\files_folder). Once there, type copy *.sng *.txt and press the enter key.
This should give you a copy of all the song files, as a txt file, without altering the orginal files.

There is an XML importer (open the PDF on the link to see the format), but someone would have to right a program to convert your format to this XML format.
Other than that, you'll have to import them one at a time, using the "Import from Clipboard" procedure I outlined above.
Many churches like the idea of starting a fresh database, so they don't bring along a lot of older unused items. At first, when the old SongSelect database went away, I was trying everything to bring over as much as possible. Now I wish I hadn't brought as much as I had.
However, every church is different. But if you build your database one week's songs at a time, it is manageable.
