Call tech support for help with DVDs. They have some free or very inexpensive software that can help get you going, though I believe there are issues with playing protected DVDs (which typically cannot be played legally in a church anyway).

What I have been doing recently though, for example for the promo that came on a DVD with our vacation bible school material, is extract the clips to MP3 files, and include them into the program as a video.  I do this at home with the software that I use to edit my home movies.  I believe the last time I used Roxio.

But given that most store bought DVDs cannot be played legally in a church anyway, and given that I have some control over the format that we receive other videos in,  I haven't even loaded the DVD software since using SSP.  I just don't use them.

A while ago, we started recording testimonies of people that were about to be baptized, and playing them in the church right before the person is baptized (this works so much better than giving the testimony from the tank).  The person that filmed and provided the videos had been putting them on DVD, one testimony per chapter.  Now he brings them on a thumb-drive with a named file for each video.  At first I didn't like the idea of not using the DVD, but it actually works much better because, invariably we need to change the order of the people being baptized and that was a pain with the DVD.

I'll bet you meant MPG (or M4P), not MP3. But I agree with your comment. You have much better control of media on the hard drive than on a DVD.

If you need to play from the DVD, here's what you need

Recommended DVD Applications for use with SongShow Plus

I've had good luck picking up these older supported versions on eBay.

I almost never play videos (or audio) directly from DVD, CD, or web. I like having media on the hard drive where I'm sure it will play when needed.
