Version 7 > Installing New Bible Versions

There's probably a simple answer to this, but how do I get new versions of the Bible into SSP?  Does SSP automatically recognize versions it can use or is there a place where the program lets me browse and find those versions.

I got the free version of the Online Bible which I heard people talking about and then downloaded the free ASB version to see if this worked.  Online Bible recognized the new version, but SSP didn't.  I also have an older version of the Parson's QuickVerse program, which I believe the program supports, but I can't seem to get that loaded onto SSP either.

Any ideas?

Rob

You need to have the correct promodules installed for Online Bible and Quickverse for SSP to be able to access those versions.

What's the best program for doing this? We are planning on diploying this across all of our projection machines but i don't have time to try each version to find the most compatible software.

You will find that most users (at least the vocal ones ) really like the Online Bible. This includes me.

We found it to be a low cost choice, as you can just pay for the versions you want. And we've found it to be a very good performer, as well.

AndI will reiterate my warning that newer versions of Quick Verse no longer include the NIV. NIV databases from older versions of Quick Verse will still work.

I love Online Bible.  You do have to download the promodule for it to work.  When we purchased Online Bible several years ago, I purchased the Deluxe version on CD for around $70.00.  It included all the versions they had and they encourage you to copy the software to as many computers as you want to so it really is quite a deal.

And we downloaded the modules for free and only paid $20 for the NIV version, because that's the only version we use 99.8% of the time.

Couldn't beat that deal anywhere.

Well, it's now working. Thanks for all the help. I guess I needed to update SSP after I downloaded Online Bible. I love easy solutions.

Welcome aboard Tim..

What version of the bible are you wanting to use.

You will need to install, some bible software like "Online bible". You then install the ssp support (formally known as a promodule ) for that software. This lets ssp "talk" to the bible software you have installed, giving you access to the different versions of the bible contained in the software you have installed..

Hope that all makes sense, if not yell out and we can explain better..

Most of us here use online bible for our bible support. www.onlinebible.com

you can find more info on the different scripture sofware packages supported by SSP here

Hope this helps

I'm sorry. I don't understand what Por is.

SongShowPlus only comes with the King James version. If you want another version, you have to purchase either Online Bible, Libronix or Quick Verse.

See System Requirements for details (scroll to the bottom).

For the NIV, we downloaded the Online Bible and paid a $15 unlock fee for the NIV.

I purchased QuickeVerse 2007 Essentials for $35.  I got this version for the spanish bible version "Reina Valera".  But, the words that has an accented word are not transfered correctly, and not all the books are transfered to SSP.  What can I do to fix this problem?  All the other versions (English) have been transfered without any problems.

God Bless You

Does anyone else use Online Bible with the New Living Translation. The original NLT worked with no trouble but lhe updated NLT (2000?) in Online Bible is apparently formatted differently (improved, with "real" quote marks, etc.). Quotation marks are often lost (but not lost in pairs!) and extra spacing between words is often inserted. SSP Support says OLB made changes which SSP doesn't support. If others complain, perhaps it will be fixed.

Rerun the SSP installation and make sure that the Online Bible module is checked.

I would agree that the Online Bible is the way to go if you just want Bible translations on SSP. However, I am happy with QuickVerse since I already had it. It has about every translation a person would want plus a ton of other useful stuff: good pictures, maps, and I especially like (and use) Draper's Quotations. So, If you have an acceptable version of QuickVerse, just load that Pro Module and use it, otherwise buy the versions of Online Bible you will use and load that Pro Module.

What are the bible versions offered under the download section for if you have to buy either quickverse or online bilbe?

The short answer is you don't have to buy QuickVerse or Online Bible...

The Bible plug-ins listed in the download section are available for purchase and unlock for use in SongShow Plus and no other software is required.

If there are bibles that you would like to use that are not offered as plug-ins then you would need to get other supported software to display this.  Currently QuickVerse is deprecated so Online Bible would be the best choice.

Please let us know if a bible you need is not available.  We will certainly investigate expanding the bible offerings if there is additional demand.

I have tried to install Online Bible on both my home and church computers - it will not install correctly on either - so it is useless to us.  I have purchased the NKJV from Go Fish Media but it doesn't work either.

Until February of this year when i update the program, Quick verse worked wonderfully for us.    Now it takes forever to use any Bible becuase i have to go online and then copy and paste the verse from the version i want into the program.  A lot of work for somethign that used to be so very easy with Quickverse.

I have contacted SSP for support but have only been told to ask online bible for help.

I am frustrated with the whole process.  I don't have hours to sit and work on this - i volunteer my time to do this for our church - i want something that just works like quickverse did.   I am sorry i ever upgraded SSP.  I am sure that there is something very simple that i am doing wrong, but so far no one has been able to help me get it going.  If you have any ideas, please let me know!

You should call them about getting the NKJV installed and working correctly.

I've not had trouble with the Online Bible, so I can't help there.
