Version 7 > Second hard Drive

We have been using a computer that has the horsepower to run SSP very well.  The problem is that it has a very small hardrive (20GB).  We would like to install a second hard drive. (We were given Premiere Production CS3 and want to install it on the orginal hard drive.  To do this we need to make room for it. Plus it is getting full with just the images and videos we normally use in SSP.)  The second hard drive will be connected by firewire.  It is a 500GB 7200 rpm drive.  My question is if I move all of my images (not videos) to the second drive, will there be a noticable performance delay in SSP when I use one of those images in the program?  Any other suggestions would be appreciated too.
Thanks!

There should not be but you may want to consider getting a bigger hard drive to use internally.  Some new drives come with software to do a transfer to the new drive.  You can also do this with imaging software - which is a good way to "snapshot" your system from complete drive failure.
You can install a larger drive and transfer the image to the new drive without having to reinstall everything.

The result is the same system install on a much bigger hard drive and you take the external drive out of the picture.

When I moved my Images and VIdeos on my Home PC over to a different and seperate drive I noticed a HUGE difference.

When improving it seemed so much more brisk.

On a side note, Seagate and Maxtor drives come with a cutdown version of Arconis TrueImage.

It will allow you to image a drive to another drive and make backups.

Your system MUST contain AT LEAST one Maxtor or Seagate Drive.

I'd lean towards a internal Seagate drive, External is just adding another possible point of failure.

I bought an External Hard Drive becuase I was told that the power supplies for Dell computers are generally "under powered". So I thought I'd be better off with a External Hard Drive that has it's own power supply. Thought I'd give this a try first and see what happens. I am suppose to get delivery on the drive this Wednesday.
Thanks again!
