Version 7 > Mp3 files playing

I have downloaded numeous MP3 files from the Song Select Website. Many i have been able to play during slides shows, but all the recent ones I have downloaded will not play in slides show or in SSP period. However they will play through widows media player. Examples of ones that won't play are:
Don't Let Me Miss The Glory by Jonathan Martin
Mercy Came Running by Phillips Craig and Dean
Give me Jesus by Jeremy Camp
Let it Fade by Jonathan Martin

I don't use the SongSelect service, but it is possible that they use DRM (Digital Rights Management)

This would prevent SSP from playing the files.
Can you burn them to a CD and rip them back into your PC?

Anyone else have any ideas? I tried doing as Lucas suggested with no luck.During our contemporary services we created our own slides shows for songs and then attach the music to the slides shows with slide show properties. Again the files play real player and if I click on the arrow when I have them shown where they are kept in the Media\Audio files directory. the screen goes blank and the file acts like it is playing media control panel but there is no sound. When I assign it to the slide show it won't play yet other songs will. An example is Don't let me miss The Glory by Jonathan Martin. I have downloaded files form both Song select and Wal-Mart and neither down load will play is SSP

I assume by Song Select you referring to the Song Touch site which I believe they now run. In any event, the songs purchased are licensed and will play in Media Player because that where the license is. They will not play in SSP (and mine won't even load into a program) because there's no license there and I don't think SSP supports licenses. Wal Mart, Christianbooks etc. all license the songs they sell. Generally you can copy the song x times (number depending on the seller) to other devices or locations, but I have never gotten them to play in SSP or Movie Maker.

Thanks for your reply. Yes it was Song Select I was referring too. What I fail to understand is why some songs I download play just fine in SSP, while others won't. Is there no way of knowing which will and won't before downloading them? I see no permission differences between those that will and won't.

It is unlikely that the properties of the song will indicate if it contains DRM (or other form of protection) but the system file permissions only grant (or restrict) access to the file and do not dictate the ability to play the file.
It may be possible that some of your songs are protected while others are not. Your best bet here is to contact the vendor you got the song from to determine if they use any copy protection schema in their downloads.
The earlier statements are true that SSP has no mechanism to process protected audio content. If you are able to play some and not others, my guess is that the SSP side of the equation is working fine.
I have read about "cleaners" that will strip the protection from audio files to make them more compliant. I have no specific recommendations but you might want to try this to test this theory.
An alternative would be to find a song source the specifically states no copy protection is used.
In the end if you are not able to resolve this, please contact the support team for assistance.
