Version 7 > Outline Builder

I would like to create sermon outlines, that will give me the flexibility to be able to jump from the outline to scripture verses, and back to the outline. When I try this, I have to go through several "Points" of the outline to get back to where I was before I put the sripture up on the screen.
I also tried to clone the slides, but it then renumbers them to a higher number when it is displayed again.
Can someone give me a tip on how to accomplish this? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Do you want to insert the scripture in the slide show? Or switch between the scripture module and the slide show module?
Are you wanting to show a slide with point 1 animated on, then show some scripture, then have a slide with point 1 already on and animate point 2 on? Or do you want only point 2 on that next slide and leave point 1 behind?
I haven't played with that for quite a while. We're trying to get away from bullet points and more toward graphics.
Hopefully someone here has more experience with the outline builder.

I would like to switct to scripture, than back to where I was on the outline. But when I clone the outline, it jumps everything up to another "number" on the outline. Does this make sense???

Are you trying to clone the outline slide in slide show builder and that's where it's getting renumbered?
I thought there was some sort of setting in the bullets and numbering that told it what number to start on. I know there is in powerpoint and that my be where I'm getting confused. But I thought slide show builder had it as well.
I would right click on the text object and see if there are some settings to tweak.

Something you may want to consider is the On Demand SSP Training from GoFishMedia.
As I understand it, if you have an active Silver support agreement, you get one class for free. And I believe they have one on Slide Show Builder.
I attended an online version of this class and it helped me sort out quite a few things about Slide Show Builder.

I do what you are suggesting, but I incorporated the scripture into the slideshow.
Slide Show Builder has a feature that incorporates scripture just as easily as incorporating scripture directly into the program -- in fact you have more flexibility by incorporating it into the slideshow.
But I do know what you mean for those "on the fly moments".. there have been times where it would be nice if there was an easier way to 'mark you place' and 'return to your place' in a slideshow so that you can jump out and back in.

If you are cloning a slide in SSB, it used to automatically "name" that slide "Slide n", where n = the next number in the sequence. It now copies the slide "name" and adds a sequential number in parenthasis. So cloning Slide 10 would produce a slide named Slide 10 (2). If you cloned slide 10 again, it would be Slide 10 (3). Where it gets confusing is that adding a new slide to the slide show will produce a name that is sequential. Create a new slide after Slide 10 would produce Slide 11.
When I create Outline SSB, I start with just the Scripture verse reference, and then add from there. I build it one line at a time until 13 lines (blank lines and text lines) are used. I then clone that slide to carry over the formatting and continue on. It does force me to rename each slide as I go, which is frustrating, but better than the alternative.
The alternative is that two sequential slides with the same name will eventually cause the second one to be skipped. I had this happen once, when I made a 11:59.99999999 hour (

If you right-click the margin of the slide, a menu pops up that will allow you to add text. One of the text options is scripture, which pulls from your installed Bibles. It will add a scripture text box to the slide. I usually copy that text, delete the text object, and then paste the scripture into the current text box.
I hope this is helpful.

Naming the slides might help the original poster navigate back more quickly when flipping between the outline and bible passages. This could help if he keeps the slide show expanded in the package.
When doing out lines, I name the slides, that are not scripture, with the outline number e.g., 1A ,1B, 2A, etc. I also name the scripture slides w/ the reference.
To name a slide, simply highlight its name in the window on the left in Slide Show Builder, then touch the Space bar, You can then overwrite the name of the slide.
This is an undocumented feature as I recall.
