Version 7 > Timer background

I just want to thank you guys for the work on the timer problem freezing up SSP. It has also cleared up the delay that I had when going into video files during a service. I had at least a 5 to 8 second delay before the video would start playing on the screen. But about playing videos in the timer background. When I right button click on the timer in the service, I go to background and select video and look for our announcement loop which is a .mov file and it does not appear in the list. I have the H.264 module on my SSP program, but the timer background video only recognizes mpeg or wmv files. Can this be corrected? I do have a video converter program that I have started using to convert the .mov file to a .wmv file. Keep up the good work.

There is a place that was added 2009 Edition that allows you to add file extentions that will show in the List. look in the May under tools then utilities then choose recognized file types this will allow you to tell ssp to show those types also.

I have been right clicking on the timer loop and selecting the announcement video loop to play in the background. I did not go to the end of the list and that is where I located all of the .mov files. So I tried one of the .mov files as a background to the timer and all I got was a black screen. Any more suggestions?

Tim,
I went through the steps you described when adding the .mov background and it worked fine for me with several different videos. I would check the following:
My first assumption is that you have purchased the H.264 plug-in and have it installed and unlocked on the system in question...
Make sure the h.264 videos you are trying to use comply with the requirements listed in the h.264 KB article.
See if the video you are trying to play will play through the video panel in SSP. This will be a good indication if it will play at all in SSP as background or otherwise.
If this does not work, try to play the video in a different application to verify the video plays at all.
If you do this and find that it should work, contact the support team. They can take a look and may escalate with the video for a closer look.
