Version 7 > adding music to slide show

Hi all,
When I use the slide show builder to create a photo show, one of the options is to add a music file. I hit browse and found the music clip I wanted to use, clicked on it, then clicked select at the bottom of the dialog box. When I play the slide show, no music. Why?
I've checked the audio levels settings under "view" audio mixer tool bar and in the properties drop down box associated with the slide show when I pulled it into a program. I'm getting an alert message saying "unable to load audio file" The audio file is a song I bought and downloaded off an online music store.
thanks again
Sue

The license that came with your downloaded music may not allow you to download it to other locations or to play it from other programs.

any way around that? I've got songs I've downloaded into Windows Media player direct from the music web site and they won't even play on the computer that I loaded them into. I understand the need to copyright and protect songs but it's annoying to buy them and not be able to listen to them.

I have burned them to an audio CD and then reripped them.
However, if you can't play them in WMP, I doubt you'll be able to burn them.

I had this same problem when I ripped (license allowed it for churches) songs off of a CD. After some searching on the net, I found that WMP has Copy protect music enabled by default. This can be disabled by opening the Windows Media Player Options, select the Rip Music tab, uncheck the Copy protect music box, and click OK.
I have no idea if this will affect your downloaded songs, but it is something to check.

As soon as I download a song and am sure it will play I use TotalRecord to record it and save it as a WAV. I then use Audacity to delete any front or rear blank material and export it. This gives me a song I can play anywhere. I then delete the downloaded song. I dislike doing all this, but I have bought so much stuff that I couldn't play for the use intended, and sometimes I couldn't play them even on the machine I downloaded to. When possible, I buy albums and figure the artist and producer are getting the share they deserve.

Sue,
I believe that imagap hit on your solution. Please refer to our KB article (TS040) regarding this issue.

Logical thought, and I appreciate it, however "copy protect music" is already disabled on my system. However, the error message in the alert window references a problem with SongSelect. It says "can not open file C:\Program.......\songselect importer.sspss. What is song select importer?
