Merry Christmas and other tidbits
This week, I was given a request from the service coordinator at our church for an interesting video composition that was quite ambitious. I wasn't sure if its was something that SSP could do, and discovered that it wasn't up to the task due to a hard-coded constraint. This project was apparently also too complicated for an experienced Final Cut Pro editor to do within the timeframe we had, so the video project was not completed. My plan is to remove the hard-coded constraint in SSP and see if, by using SSP, this particular project can be built in a fraction of the time that it would take to build the video in Final Cut Pro. The potential limiting factor may be CPU resources. Anyway, I'll certainly let you know about this if/when I run the experiment.
This year may wife and I added to our fairly extensive Christmas CD collection the new Michael W. Smith CD, It's a Wonderful Christmas, and the new Mannheim Steamroller CD, Christmas Song. There was some debate whether to buy the CDs or just listen to them on Rhapsody. My wife won the the debate and so we bought the CDs -- so old school. I did find a number of other Christmas albums to listen to on Rhapsody. One that in particular that I liked was Christamas Jazz - On the Smooth & Wayward Path by Noel Lorica.
This year we also went to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert. Wow, what a show that was! Very talented musicians and a very impressive light show, including lasers -- and fire! We were in the second-to-last-row, and still felt the heat. I'm looking forward to the day when churches start using pyrotechnics in their worship services. Once they do, we'll be right there with the Pyrotechnic plug-in for SSP -- point, click, ignite!

I was glad to be in the balcony on the side. I, too, felt the head from the flames. It was really awesome when the flames turned to green.
I would say the visual show was every bit as good as the music. And I love their music.
I was not near a PC on Christmas day, so I have to say it late. Hope all had a wonderful day with family and/or friends.

I've updated the original Merry Christmas blog entry to now include a link to my son playing jingle bells on the piano. He's 3-years old.
Just kidding. Keep the lessons going. The best SSP operators are musicians, also.
