Feature Review: Title Slides for Songs

6/26/2009  < Previous  Next >

Another frequent request we've had for some time how is the capability to specify a title slide for songs. Previously, you had the option to display title information along with all lyrics slides, the first lyrics slide only, or no title information at all, but there was no option to provide just a title slide. The wish for the capability to have a separate title slide is fulfilled in the May 2009 edition.

As shown in the screen shot below, there are now four options for presenting title information: All Lyrics Slides, First Lyrics Slide Only, Last Lyrics Slide Only, Title Slide Only. You can, of course, choose to not show any title information as well.

Something to keep in mind is how the layout controls now work with this new option. When using the Title Slide Only option, there's a good chance that you will be placing the title information on the part of the slide that may also normally contain lyrics. Here's an example of how this might look for a song.

and here are the controls for this layout:

There's no problem with having these overlap unless, of course, you switch to one of the other options that include lyrics and title information on the same slide.

Another enhancement related to this is capability to specify both title and blank slides in the typical verse order of a song.

This is a great new feature. This will certainly be easier than the work around I've been using for some time now. I make a song part titled 'title' and hit enter in the spot where the lyrics are typed. Now when this part is displayed, it has no lyrics but has the title on the screen. You can then put this as the first thing in the verse sequence and have the same effect as this new feature. In case anyone was getting anxious to use this it is possible to do it now.

Yes. I do basically the same thing (only I call the song part Opening) and it works fine.

But it will be nice to not have to do this anymore.
