Feature Review: Mobile Control, Color Improv
Another capability of the new Mobile Control feature in SongShow Plus is one that lets you remote control Color Improv. As I mentioned in the previous post about Background Improv and Mobile Control, a challenge of the Improv features is that it requires a level or multi-tasking by the projecitonist. Adding Color Improv complicates things even more.
The Color Improv feature was added a year ago. It provides you with a way to colorize images and videos on-the-fly independent of any songs or slides being presented at the time. It is quite useful in situations where you want to spontaneously synchronize stage lighting and projection color.
By providing access to Color Improv through the Mobile Control interface, you can now delegate the task of controling Color Improv to yet another person on your team.
Here is a screen shot of the Color Improv interface on the iPad:
What's nice about this is that both stock and user preset colors are accessible on a single page. The stock presets are located in the top half. My user presets are located in the bottom half.
For the smaller screen devices, like the iPod, the stock and user presets are provided on separate pages.
Triggering a new color is simply a matter or tapping on the color you want displayed. Off and On buttons are also provided.
Letting one of your team members control background color using his iPhone or Droid device can be another handy little feature!
Related update: In my last post, I mentioned that the Mobile Interfaces were not compatible with the Motorola Xoom. Those problems have now been fixed so this device can be used with the Mobile Control interface just like the iPad. This fix will be avialable in the next release of the October 2010 Edition.
