My own SSP/PowerPoint lock-up event

Yes, its true, even I experience occasional strange behavior when using SSP in a presentation environment. Last Sunday I went to load the program for the service and discovered that SSP would simply lock up when the program was loading. I asked the person who was familiar with the contents of the program for insight. It did contain a DVD clip so I verified that there was no issue with it. I was also told that there was a PowerPoint presentation in the program. There was also one in the previous week's program. On a hunch, I went to load the previous week's program and experienced the same problem. Then, acting on yet another hunch, I opened SSP then went straight to the slide show database panel to directly present a PowerPoint presentation bypassing the program. Once again, SSP locked up. At this point, I have concluded that something happened on the system within the last week that was causing a problem with SSP using PowerPoint. Then the technician who was to be working the computer for the service pointed out that I had a USB thumb drive inserted into the machine. He asked me if that might have something to do with it. My response was that it shouldn't, but let's removed it and see. I removed the thumb drive and attempted to reload the service's program. The program loaded right up and the PowerPoint presentation worked as expected. Needless to say we'll look into this strange scenario -- I have no good explanation for why this would happen. For now, the fix for this falls in to the "don't do that" category.
