SongSelect Conversion/Import Utility

7/15/2008
Last Thursday, CCLI updated its SongSelect website. The latest update caused an incompatibility with SSP's SongSelect Website import tool. We learned of the website changes only after users reported to us that there were problems. At this time, we are investigating the changes made to the SongSelect website, but it is unknown when and how the import tool will fixed.

In the meantime, R-Technics is making available a stand-alone utility that will take one or more download files from the SongSelect website and convert them into a single import file that can be used by SSP's XML Import plug-in. To use this tool, you'll need to have the XML Import plug-in installed for SSP. You'll also need to be using the January 2008 Edition of SSP or later since this utility may create import files that are incompatible with older versions of SSP. While the process of using this tool is less convenient than the integrated import tool, it should still be more convenient than using the clipboard.

To import files from the SongSelect website, use the tools provided on its site to download files to the Desktop (click Save or Export). Then use the stand-alone SSP conversion utility to convert the files.

Note: At the time of this post, the save process described above works well with Internet Explorer. With Internet Explorer, the download file is given a reasonable name with a proper file extension (.txt). However, the process  doesn't work well with Firefox 2. In this case, the file name only contains the first word of the song title, and there is no proper file extension. You'll need to rename these files to use them with the stand-alone conversion utility.

Download the stand-alone SongSelect to SSP conversion utility.

If you need to install the XML Import plug-in for SSP. To tell if the XML Import plug-in is installed, from SSP open then menu Songs > Import Song(s) From.  One of the submenu items should say XML File. If you do not see this menu item, then you need to install the XML import plug-in.

Download the SSP XML Import Plug-in.
