How do I update a version 9 License After Subscription Update or Renewal?

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to SongShow Plus Version 9

With SSP Version 9.x, the license file used to unlock your installation for projection contains the expiration date of your SSP Upgrade Subscription. When the subscription expires, SSP notifies you, upon start-up, through pop-up messages. An expired subscription does not mean that you cannot use SSP at all, it simply means that you are no longer eligible for upgrades or subscription specific features.

When you renew your subscription, your activated machine also needs to be updated with the new license. This is important because, unless the license is updated, you will not be able to use subscription specific features or obtain/install new SSP upgrades.

If you have renewed your SSP subscription and now need to update the license on your activated machine, there are a couple of ways to do this:

Option 1: Directly through the Internet.
If your machine has Internet access, and you have renewed your SSP Upgrade Subscription, then you can update your system's license directly through the Internet. SSP V 9.x will automatically detect a new/updated license and will download it.  Upon a subsequent restart, SSP will ask if you want to update the license - click Yes.

Option 2: Renew with a license file.
If your machine does NOT have Internet access, you can perform and offline activation. When you renewed your license, you should have been sent a license file by e-mail. If you did, copy that license file to your activated machine's downloads folder as instructed in the license email. Upon a subsequent restart, SSP will ask if you want to update the license - click Yes.

NOTE: Incomplete update:
If SSP indicates that the license has been updated but some of the features included with your subscription do not seem to be available, it may be necessary to deactivate and then reactivate using the same license.

To do this:

  1. Make note of your SSP ID as well as the name of the machine license in question. This can be found at toolbar > License > Machine Information > Machine.
  2. From the tool bar select License > Deactivate.
  3. Complete deactivation.
  4. Close and re-launch SSP.
  5. At the activation prompt proceed normally, selecting the designated machine license from step 1.

This should resolve any inconsistency in the license and the machine state.
