SongShow Sync and file consolidation - Program or Slide Builder

3/28/2024

One very useful feature in SongShow Plus is SongShow Sync.  The initial feature post can be found here however some additional information is needed to use SongShow Sync to its full potential.

 * Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page for the best experience. *

SongShow Sync is included with the SongShow Connect subscription, which also includes SongShow Drive.  The SongShow Connect subscription provides the storage space for these services and needs to be renewed to remain available.

NOTE: SongShow Connect services (Drive and Sync) are now included as part of the Silver Subscription. You must maintain a Silver Subscription or higher to preserve access to your files. Content may be deleted if subscription lapses for more than 60 days.

There are a few other articles that you should review that cover specific issues and a basic overview.  Use the SongShow Connect link above to explore the basics.

Operational Note: Neither SongShow Drive nor SongShow Sync are automatically executed.  Both require intentional and deliberate actions on the part of the user to upload or download content from the SongShow Connect repositories.

File Consolidation

SongShow Sync can be used to maintain a consistent media library across machines in your organization.  By using the Sync Folders for different media content and syncing your repositories regularly, you will always have your latest content available. File Consolidation is a tool that will ensure that the media used to create programs and slideshows is placed in the proper locations to be synced as expected.  File Consolidation can be found in both the Slide Builder and the SongShow Plus Presenter.   The best use case for each is as follows:

Slide Builder

  1. Launch Slide Builder
  2. Create a new slide show, select File > Save As... and save it in the Sync Folders location.
  3. Build your slide show.
  4. After you create your slide show and save it, while it is still open select Tools > Synchronize > "your repository".
  5. This will analyze the content and you should be prompted that one or more files are not synced - click Yes to copy and Sync files.
  6. Complete the Sync process.

NOTE: If you have already closed your slide show or have created several slide shows that you want to sync you can open each one to complete this process. If you want to proactively ensure the files are in the right place as you edit your slide show you can select File > Consolidate Files... as you go to copy the files and then complete the synchronization once everything is complete. If there are files that are not already in the Sync Folders, it will prompt to copy them - select Yes.

SongShow Plus Presenter

  1. Launch SongShow Plus
  2. Create a new program, select File > Save Program As... and save it in the Sync Folders location.
  3. Build your program.
  4. After you create your program and save it, while it is still open select Tools > Synchronize > "your repository".
  5. This will analyze the content and you should be prompted that one or more files are not synced - click Yes to copy and Sync files.
  6. Complete the Sync process.

NOTE: If you have already closed your program or have created several programs that you want to sync you can open each one to complete this process. If you want to proactively ensure the files are in the right place as you edit your program you can select File > Consolidate Files... as you go to copy the files and then complete the synchronization once everything is complete. If there are files that are not already in the Sync Folders, it will prompt to copy them - select Yes.

Training Videos - A video walk-through of this process may be available.  Depending on your current subscription level, you can go to the GoFishMedia website training page and log in with the same Customer ID and password that you use to log in to the SongShow Plus site or activate SongShow Plus. Review this article for more details.

If you have any questions regarding the use of or issues with any of the SongShow Sync methods, please contact the Support Team.
