How to use SongShow Signage - Basics

3/4/2022

When you receive your SongShow Signage Digital Signage Device(s) (DSD), it will have been completely configured and activated - all you have to do is connect it to your display device, connect power and turn it on. The signage player or Digital Signage Device (DSD), is intended to run hands-free once installed. There should be no need for user interaction directly with the hardware (DSD) once it is deployed.

When connected and powered up for the first time, the DSD should automatically connect to you network and download a "Setup Complete" slide show.  If this is not displayed, please contact the Support Team.

Assuming that the initial connection was completed successfully, you are ready to Publish, Schedule and view content on SongShow Signage.

My first Schedule Configuration

  1. From any Projection or Workstation machine, launch the Slide Builder.
  2. From the main toolbar, select Settings > Manage Signage > Players.
  3. This should connect automatically but if presented with the Sign In page, enter your SongShow Plus ID and password.
  4. Once this is entered, click Next and after the connection to the server is made the Signage Player Configuration dialog should appear showing the Signage device(s) and the available channel(s).
  5. Select a device to configure.
  6. Select Channel 1.
  7. Adjust the days and Times as needed.  For the first run it is recommended to set this to all days and 24 hours to get familiar - Additional changes can be made later.
  8. Click Next to save changes.  Verify confirmation message.
  9. Click Next to close.

Publishing My First Slideshow

  1. From any Projection or Workstation machine, launch the Slide Builder.
  2. Build and preview a short slideshow that you want to present on Signage.
  3. Save the slideshow.
  4. Click on File > Publish to Signage to open the dialog and select the desired Channel.
  5. Click on Next to publish the content.
  6. Click Next to save changes.  Verify confirmation message.
  7. Click Next to close.

The DSD will check for new content and configurations every minute. Depending on the timing of the initial publish and configuration operations, it may take up to 3 minutes for content to be initially recognized, however, if your slideshow content has large media files, it can take longer to download the full content.  The DSD will not begin playing the content until ALL components are downloaded to the DSD. Observe the signage player device (DSD) to make sure that your content is displayed as expected.
