SongShow Plus has several configuration settings that control how SongShow Plus behaves, where SongShow Plus data comes from or goes to and other relevant settings.

SongShow Plus Share Properties Files

The Share Properties Files configuration will determine where certain settings such as Slide Properties, Service Elements and other similar settings are stored for use with SongShow Plus. By default this setting is set to No (Recommended).
If Yes is selected, the settings will be stored in the same location as the Media Files.  Other machines sharing the Media Files location will also have to have the setting set to Yes.

NOTE: This setting is only recommended for use with organizations that have multiple machines using the same Media files on a stable local network (LAN) AND have someone that is skilled in maintaining the SSP settings.  If all machines are not consistently using the same settings this can cause unexpected bad behavior on one or more machines.

Accessing this configuration setting can be done in 2 ways - both require administrator rights.

  1. From Windows -- Start > Programs > SongShow Plus X.x > Configuration > Share Properties Files
  2. From SongShow Plus -- Toolbar > Settings > Share Properties Files...

Once in the SongShow Plus Share Properties Files utility, there are instructions and warnings made available for the user about the change.

Notes About Using the Share Properties Files setting

While it is possible to use the Share Properties Files settings on a LAN (Local Area Network) there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • The key to good behavior in SongShow Plus will be sufficient network bandwidth. Use a hard-wired gigabit network adapter in all connected machines.  Accessing this over the wireless network can be especially problematic. If there is latency across the network it can affect several things in SSP.
    • All Machines or No Machines should use these settings.  Mixed use could be problematic.
    • Switching back and forth with these settings can cause unpredictable behavior.
    • Switching the use of this setting may remove all previously saved settings, causing the end user to reset all settings manually.
