How do I combine some or all of a Program with another Program - Merge Program

Programs in SongShow Plus are a powerful tool that allows content to be ordered and saved for later use.  Sometimes it may be necessary to combine Programs to serve a different purpose or just to save some work. 

This can be done in a few ways but all of them will use the Merge Program function.  This can be found in the Program panel tool bar.  While there are several variations that can be done, the main 3 are:

• Adding one complete Program to another complete Program
• Combine two complete Programs into a new Program
• Adding a portion of a Program to another Program

Review the description and steps below to determine which is right for you.

Add a Program to another Program - This is the basic use of the Merge Program function, strictly combining two programs into one.  This will overwrite/save the "Primary" program.

1. Launch SSP
2. Open the program that you want to add content to - this is the Primary program.
3. IMPORTANT - Select the location in the primary program that you want the new content added by clicking on an item/space/break in the program.
4. From the Program toolbar select Merge Program...
5. From the Open Program dialog, select the Program with the content you want to add  (Secondary program) and click Open.
6. The entire content of the secondary program will be inserted ABOVE the selected location in the primary program.
7. Verify content and click Save.  This will overwrite the original program.

Combine two complete Programs into a new, third Program - This is a slight modification of the basic use of the Merge Program function, combining two programs into a new, third one.  This will be a new "Primary" program.

1. Launch SSP
2. Create a new, blank program and save.
3. From the Program toolbar select Merge Program...
4. From the Open Program dialog, select the first Program with the content you want to add and click Open.
5. IMPORTANT - Select the location in the program that you want the new content added by clicking on an item/space/break in the program.
6. From the Program toolbar select Merge Program...
7. From the Open Program dialog, select the second Program with the content you want to add  and click Open.
8. The entire content of the second program will be inserted ABOVE the selected location in the primary program.
9. Verify content and click Save.  This will be an original program.

Adding a portion of a Program to another Program - This can be executed similar to either of the options above but does require a little more work.  First, you will need to copy/edit the source of the Program "portion" so that it is a stand-alone Program.  Once you have this "portion" saved, you can merge it into another program or create an entirely new program using one of the two methods listed above.
