Blank slides vs the Blank Slide Button

Blank slides are an important part of the SongShow Plus landscape and can be found in several places. There two distinct types of Blank Slides. The most common is the type that are inserted as actual slides in a song, slide show or program to give "space" in the progression or just as a place holder. The other type is explicitly for use in the Program Panel - triggered by clicking the Blank Slide Button. Read below for details on use cases.
Inserted Blank Slides
Blank slides can be inserted in Songs, Slide Shows or Programs. These are intended to serve as a persistent, planned separator of content. These can also serve to smooth the transition between disparate or misbehaving content. Including these will display a blank (empty) slide with the same Slide Properties as set in the Song, Slide Show or Program. Within a Program, they can be set with unique settings using custom slide properties.
Settings Location - All properties of this type of blank slide are found and set in the area related Slide Properties - They will be the same as the parent category (Song, Slide Show or Program)
The Blank Slide Button
The Blank Slide Button is ONLY used in Programs. It is located in the Program Panel tool bar next to the Clear/Mute buttons. This intended to serve as a temporary, unplanned separator of content.
Presenting a blank slide using this button is usually done for the following reasons:
- On the fly long pause or transition between program content, like when a speaker is talking mid-service.
- Recovery from or to cover up unexpectedly displayed content.
- Display reset in the case of display error - present a blank slide then re-display original content.
There may be other uses outside of the scope of this article.
Settings Location - All properties of this type of blank slide are found and set in the Global Default Slide Properties (Slide Properties > All Media > Blank Slide).
The options for the Blank Slide Button are:
- Use Color - Select a color from the palette.
- Use Background - This uses the Global Background settings.
- Use Slide - This uses a pre-build slide you can select from a group.
- Use Image - Select an image from the SSP files.
- Transition - this is limited to the selection from the drop menu
