DPI settings supported in SongShow Plus

1/21/2014
SongShow Plus currently only supports the Windows default DPI setting of 96 DPI.

Some users have changed the Windows DPI setting for a variety of reasons and have found that this causes issues with the proper display of some of the dialog boxes.  While this is not desirable behavior it is not unexpected.

Currently there is a process within SongShow Plus to detect this DPI setting change and alert the user to possible ill effects of the change each time SongShow Plus is launched.  This alert will appear in the SSP Alerts indicator located in the lower right corner of the SSP Control Panel and will instruct the user to adjust the DPI setting to the Windows default of 96 DPI and restart.

We may investigate additional remedies in the future but at this time 96 DPI is the only recommended DPI setting for use with SongShow Plus.

In Windows 7 the settings may not specifically refer to this as the 96 dpi setting but rather it will be called the "Smaller - 100%" setting.  This is normally the default but can be changed by the user and sometimes at the factory on a new system with a large resolution display.

To Change DPI Setting in Windows 7:

R-Click on Desktop
Choose ‘Personalize’
Choose ‘Display’ at the bottom left
Choose ‘Smaller – 100%’
Choose ‘Apply”
Log off computer for changes to be applied.

In Windows 8.x the settings may not specifically refer to this as the 96 dpi setting but rather it will be shown as the "Smaller" setting on the slider. This is normally the default but can be changed by the user and sometimes at the factory on a new system with a large resolution display.

To Change DPI Setting in Windows 8.x:

R-Click on Desktop
Choose ‘Personalize’
Choose ‘Display’ at the bottom left
Move the slider to the left to the ‘Smaller’ setting.
Choose ‘Apply”
Log off computer for changes to be applied.
