SSB - Slide Builder indent properties are not working as expected.

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus

 * Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *

Symptom:
When creating/adjusting text objects in Slide Builder the indent properties are not working as expected. (1095/1096/1097)

This may present as text alignment/wrapping not appearing as expected or the unexpected application (many lines vs one line) of the setting.

There are currently 4 different indent settings:

  • First Line Indent
    • This title is a little misleading however this control is meant to be used for Paragraph Indentation and will shift all left justified text the amount selected, left or right.
  • Remaining Lines Indent Offset
    • This control is meant to set the offset for all remaining lines except for the first line.
  • Right Indent
    • This control is meant to be used for Paragraph Indentation and will shift all text the amount selected, left or right.  This will only work if the text is right justified and there is room to the left.  It WILL NOT wrap the text up a line but will rather push it off screen to the left.
  • Last Line Right Indent Offset
    • This control is meant to shift the last line based on the settings selected.  This will only work if the text is right justified and there is room to the left.  It WILL NOT wrap the text up a line but will rather push it off screen to the left.  This effect will only appear when the text is rendered after closing the edit box (not visible while editing)

Each setting may have specific bad behavior depending on how it is used.

Possible Cause:
Specific cause is unknown at this time - under investigation. It does appear that font size and tab settings can affect the severity of the bad behavior.

Possible Solution:
At this time there is not a workaround available to correct the indent behavior, however, it may be possible to use alternate text object construction to get the desired effect.
