Save Program Error - unable to write - unicode - Special Characters dash

9/12/2023

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus

  * Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *

Symptom:
When trying to save the SongShow Plus program, the process fails with an error message - Unable to open program - unable to write program - Only the Latin 1 subset of Unicode is supported. (1184)

Possible Cause:
This may be caused by an unsupported special character used in one or more file names of a background object.  This is most likely to happen when file names are copied from Word or a web page.  Known unsupported special characters are the en and em dashes - it is possible there are others. If this file is set as the background (image or video) the error may occur.  It is possible that this can come from media imports from sources such as the BING search.

Possible Solution:
If you encounter this error, you can look at the recently added files for names with dashes or other non alpha-numeric characters in them.  If you find these, rename the file and try resetting the background and saving the program again.

If this does not resolve the issue, contact the Support Team.
