The Scripture panel goes blank when selected and is inaccessible

8/11/2022

Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus

 * Updates correcting this issue may be available. Ensure that you are using the most current build of SongShow Plus from the Download page before proceeding. *

Symptom:
The areas that display the scripture data under the scripture panel goes blank.  This may or may not be accompanied by an error message - possibly a range check error.  Many times this is following the initial start-up of SongShow Plus or a system configuration change that affects the displayed size of SongShow Plus.

Possible Cause:
Unknown Root Cause - This can occur if the Media panel size is changed due to a manual adjustment or a system configuration change such as a new/change of display devices or setting that changes the available screen space.

 Possible Solution:
If this occurs, resize the Media Files panel vertically to give more space to the Scripture panel display and then restart SongShow Plus. This change will resolve the problem with the scripture panel.

Possible Cause:
Unknown Root Cause - Some users have experienced this after initial installing SSP the first time they try to select a bible book.  This is rare, but when it occurs a restart of SSP is required to recover the Scripture Panel.

 Possible Solution:
If this occurs enter a known Book/Chapter/Verse (Genesis 1 1) in the Book/Chapter/Verse text field.  SSP will automatically find the selection.  This process seems to overcome the initialization problem with the scripture panel.

Possible Cause:
Unknown Root Cause - Some users have experienced a problem with the search in the scripture panel. When switching between the book tab and the search tab with text in the book tab, an error occurs - usually a range check error. The error message will clear but the panel will not work. SSP has to be restarted to recover from this condition.

 Possible Solution:
As a workaround, avoid leaving text in the search fields when switching between the book and search tabs.
