The SongShowPlus program randomly freezes on our projector. The application still works but won't change what's on the projector. Support was not helpful, this is a bug, my ticket was closed with no help.

I have tried the version 10 preview and that does the same thing.

After messing around with the program, it now completely crashes during song transitions.

We have noticed that some integrated Intel graphics solutions are causing some issues.
It is possible that this may have been triggered be a recent Windows update.

REMINDER:  It is NOT recommended to use any integrated graphics solutions with SongShow Plus.

Review the articles below for information and possible workarounds.

Will integrated graphics solutions work for SongShow Plus on Desktop / Notebook / Laptop
Intel drops support for DirectX 9 on many graphics solutions - integrated

This may work in the near term, however, eliminating the integrated graphics is the best solution.

Hello George!

We use Intel Integrated graphics, this is likely the cause, but why not update the program to use version 10 of directx?

Hi Alexander,

A few notes on this....

While it may be possible to change the version of DirectX used, that is no small task.  As with other products that use DirectX, the version is a fundamental building block.  This is not just a setting to be toggled. If that were the case, we would just toggle to the latest version (DX 12) and be done.

More importantly, there is no bug in SSP to fix.  It appears that Intel had a choice to implement this directly in their updated hardware/driver and continue native DX9 support OR use the Microsoft D3D9On12 interface - they chose the latter. The bug is either in the Intel implementation of this or in the Microsoft D3D9On12 interface itself.  Solutions that natively support DirectX 9 still work as expected.

Finally, none of this changes the fact that we still do not recommend any integrated graphics. Historically, they have been problematic for a variety of reasons - this issue just happens to be more severe.

Our recommendation is still to eliminate the use of any integrated graphics.

Thanks George,

I appreciate your help! I presumed it was a songshowplus bug. I will see about getting a graphics card for our system!
