Workstation works perfect to import video and use it as a background on song slides in the program.

Church computer. I follow the exact same procedure and files do not appear in the media files panel. When I try to put a video background on a song slide it says there are no files.

HOWEVER

1.      When I close the program and look at the Song Show video folder on the hard drive the videos are there.

2.      I can import a video background for a song from a thumb drive.

3.      When I shut down the program, remove the thumb drive and reopen the program without the thumb drive, the video backgrounds are still in the program.

4.      The video must be somewhere on the computer, just somewhere where Song Show can’t find them.

If you are using Version 9.3 this is probably related to the Indexer.

Please review the KB articles related to "Indexer" starting here - SSP Media Indexer - A Primer

If you have issues that persist - open a support ticket.

Thank you very, very much for your help. I walked through those steps so I can do that when I get to the church computer later today. Another thing I realize I should do is clean up of files. There are programs and slide shows on this computer that go back years! I am new to this application and the media team at church. The first thing I noticed was they were using a three year old version and build!! A very nice guy in sales walked me through the update. I do have an open ticket with support about this issue.

I dumped a ton of programs and slideshows out of SS. I followed all the steps for rebuilding the indexer. Still, when in SS the video files show in the Media Files Window but not in the Program Window. I can find them in MyDocuments.

My church doesnt pay for a subscription so support isnt too thrilled about helping me.

Any thing else you can suggest I try?

Follow these steps to revert to the Legacy Indexer - NOTE: You should already have access to the Indexing settings.  If you do not, follow the steps in the Primer article.

  1. Launch SSP.
  2. From the main toolbar select Settings > Indexer
  3. Once the Indexer Settings opens, scroll to the very bottom and locate Use Legacy Indexing.
  4. Change this setting to Yes.
  5. Save and Close.
  6. SSP will restart.
  7. Use SSP normally.
