Re-using old motion backgrounds

6/2/2007  < Previous  Next >

Recently I was preparing the slide show for the week's message. Our pastor wanted a background that showed gushing water. I searched around a few sites that I use for acquiring content and was not able to find one that was appropriate. I then turned to one of the motion backgrounds we've used from WorshipScapes. This particular background is one that we've used frequently so I preferred not to use it in this case. However, because I hadn't found anything else suitable, I turned to the new features of the April 2007 Edition of SSP that let me make significant changes to the appearance of the motion background. First I applied a Color Filter giving it an aqua-like effect. I then lowered the contrast to help the text pop out more. These are effects that are applied to the video at runtime, so the video file was not altered or re-rendered. When our Pastor say the motion background, I ask him if it worked, and he responded "Boy does it!" He didn't recognize it as one we had used before so it was as if we had a new motion background.

Below are a couple of screen shots that show the difference the effects made.
