Enhancements to the wish list

2/23/2008  < Previous  Next >

I'm happy to say that some long awaited upgrades to the wish list have been implemented. One big improvement is that you can now see the status of all wishes you've submitted. These are shown on the My Wish List tab. Additionally, you can also edit your wish while its in the "Submitted" state. Another improvement is that, once an item has been reviewed and posted for discussion on the Wish List Forum, a new icon button appears next to the wish list item which. When you click on this button, it will take you right to the discussion thread for that item. Handy. Some internal improvements make it easier for us to now review and post the submitted wishes to the discussion form, so we can now more easily keep the discussion forum up to date with the latest submissions. These few improvements should go along way in making the wish list even more useful.

A nice enhancement. I notice that the old My Wishes list (with the colored checks and x's) is still the top item. Are you going to keep that? Does it still have much use with the new system. Also, I had some "redundant" wishes - It would be nice if I (or you) could remove them. Now that all wishes are posted, I see where I have wished for the same thing twice. When I remove one of them, I get bounced back to the top of the list - it would be better to come back to where you were. Will old wishes that were granted ever be deleted? Or could you make it so we could delete them?
All in all a welcome change. Thanks

For any wish that is in the "Submitted" state, you can edit. And on the edit page, you should find a Delete link that will remove the item. I'm not sure what you are referring to regarding the "old My Wishes list".

When I click on "My Wish List" I first (i.e., its on top) get what I call "the old wish list" in that its what we have had for a year or so. It is the one where we could have up to 10 wishes and they were ranked from 1 up. There is a column down the center with multi-colored icons for moving the wishes up or down. I guess I was thinking that the new format where all a person's wishes are listed would sort of take over most of the use of the old one. I don't care, just wondering. I like the ability to edit "submitted" wishes and have already discovered and corrected where I had submitted a wish more than once, but in slightly different forms. I think it would be nice to be able to remove other wishes that had been granted, were duplicates, or were made non-grantable due to other changes. These are not in the "submitted" catagory so the user can't change them at present.

Picky, picky! I really do like the new changes.

The "old" wish list is still relevant because it lets you rank the candidates that you voted on.

OK, so we get to rank our own wishes as well as vote on all wishes -- great. Will you remove "redundant" wishes sooner or later? Also will the wishes that are "granted" be removed from the individual list?

For any wishes that you've voted on, and for which are now completed, you will need to delete those from your ranking list. That's the way it works for now.

Thanks, I was just checking to see if you were working on the weekend!

I just got done winnowing down my wish list and I like the expanded functionality, now that I've figured it out.

I was able to delete some duplicate requests I had submitted and clarified another.

It's nice to see that when we submit a wish, it isn't just going into a big bit bucket somewhere.
