Feature Review: Keyboard Navigation Mode

8/11/2011  < Previous  Next >

SongShow Plus has always provided a way to use the keyboard to advance through a program. The keystrokes to do this (Page Down, plus key, etc.) work well with single-monitor mode when the display window is presented and has keyboard focus. However, when using a second monitor for the display (the typical way of using the application) they keystokes don't always control the presentation. This is because when your keyboard focus is on a control like a list box or edit box, then these keys need to do something else other than advance the presentation. This has caused some confusion over time, and also makes it difficult to use SongShow Plus with the various third-party remote control devices available.

With the August 2011 Edition, there is now a new Keyboard Navigation Mode. When you activate this feature, SongShow Plus will go into a mode where it will only respond to the presentaion keyboard navigation commands. This is useful if you want to simply advance a program using a keyboard or a remote control device.

My wife and I used this new feature at a family camp recently in conjunction with a the PageFlip Cecada foot pedal. With this, she could easily advance the program herself as she lead the congregation in singing. When combined with the new Tablet Stage Monitor feature, these new features can be very useful to a worship team duo!

Does the blue tooth connect to the Ipad or the host computer? What's the wire for? 8-)

The pedal device connected to the computer via blue tooth. The wires you see are for power.
