Feature Preview: Secondary Display now a First Class Feature

9/30/2012  < Previous  Next >
The Secondary Display feature was added in the August 2011 Edition of SongShow Plus. However, it was a bit of a second-class feature in that it was only accessible through the Program Panel. That is, to present items to the Secondary Display, you had to build or load a program into the Secondary Program panel then present the items from there. Also, these items did not get their own Media Control panel, so you were limited in how you could control a media item once it was presented. In the November 2011 Edition, a small enhancement was made adding a Quick Access List for the Secondary Display.

In the next edition of SongShow Plus, there are a number of enhancements to the Secondary Display support.

Direct Presentation
You will now be able to directly present media items from the database panel. You are no longer required to add media items to a program first before presenting. This is done by using a new set of buttons that let you toggle which display is the active display for the Media Database Panel.

Media Control Panel
There is now a new media control panel dedicated to the control of media items presented to the Secondary Display. This panel occupies what used to be the Cued Item Control Panel (removed in the May 2012 Edition).

Instant Message
The Instance Message feature has been enhanced to now support both the Primary and Secondary displays. When the Secondary Display is enabled, you will now see both a Primary Instant Message tab and Secondary Instant Message tab in the Plug-ins panel.

Overlay Improv
The Overlay Improv feature has been enhanced to now support both the Primary and Secondary displays. When the Secondary Display is enabled, you will now see both a Primary Overlay Improv tab and Secondary Overlay Improv tab in the Plug-ins panel.

With these enhancements, there will now be nothing you can do with the Primary Display that you can't do with the Secondary Display through the SognShow Plus Control Window.
