SSP Best Practices - Workstation Activations

One of the great tools that is available with SongShow Plus is the free Workstation licenses.  This allows purchased projection licenses to be reserved for use in the main sanctuary or anywhere that an audience will see the content.  The Workstation licenses on the other hand are free and can be requested as needed through the normal activation process. These are useful for training purposes, for regular construction/setup of SongShow Plus content to be used on a projection machine or other similar uses.

 NOTE: While there is effort made regarding compatibility between SongShow Plus versions, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that ALL Projection and Workstation machines have the same version of SongShow Plus installed and activated, preferably the most recent available version. 

A few important points to understand about Workstation license and their use:

• A machine activated with a Workstation license will function nearly the same as a Projection machine on the account. There are a few specific limitations:
  • The Workstation machine will have a watermark on the projected output.
  • The Workstation machine will not work with Mobile Control.
  • A machine activated with a Workstation license will require the separate purchase of paid, per machine plug-ins (such as bibles) to operate as expected (if desired).
• A Workstation license can be used temporarily on a machine and then reused on another machine.  It is highly recommended to reuse existing Workstation licenses before creating new ones.  This prevents future confusion involving too many licenses on an account.

Workstation License reuse or transfers can be performed by the end user very easily with the updated activation process in versions 9.x and later.  Version 8.x can also be done by the user with a few additional steps.  If you are having difficulty reusing an existing Workstation license or would like to rename any of the licenses for easier recognition, contact the Support Team.
