Version 9.3 > SSP crashing using motion backgrounds
I have searched this and all I have found says 9.3 fixes this issue but I am running 9.3 and still having problems. If we attempt to use any motion backgrounds the motion freezes during the song and stops responding completely when attempting to go to next song and I have to restart and it does the same thing. Our computer is new (last year) and purchased through Go Fish Media so should run SSP with no issues. Is anyone else still having issues with this? It seems to work ok if we only use still images for backgrounds but that is not really a fix.
We have this issue occasionally but I can't narrow down the cause. I have resorted to always shutting down and restarting SSP before each service :(
We are having a lot problems with MOV files and occasionally MP4s. Anyone else notice a problem with MOV files? These are all from ShiftWorship
I've had problems with my last 3 laptops running SSP 9.3. Two of them had Intel Core i9 processoers and GeForce RTX GPU's and the latest one running an Intel Core Ultra 9 and intel ARC graphics. All three were workstations and the issues involved adding motion backgrounds to a song when creating a program. SSP would stop responding and I have to close the program and restart it. It will then work fine for one or two songs and then stop responding again. The latest issue involves my present laptop with intel core ultra 9 and ARC graphics. What happens is in Slide Builder when I edit text there is so much lag in response to commands that it freezes for 2-5 seconds before seeing the change. Sometimes it completely freezes and I have to close Slide Builder and restart it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix these issues?
This was so bad that we have quit using motion backgrounds and I finally opened a problem with tech support. We spent 2 hours or more on the phone with a trace running and throwing everything I could at it and only got it to happen once. Sent that trace to support and since, it seems to be working better, even though nothing has changed. This makes me nervous, but it seems to be working. And tech support saw it happen.
Let's face it, SSP is the program most prone to crashes of any program I have ever used or even heard of. Today Builder "stopped responding" at least 20 times. I now save after every change, no
matter how trivial. I was trying to put an image with transparency over a video and it just wouldn't work. That is my most common type of background, and similar backgrounds were working on 4 songs and two
sets of scripture. I remade the video and tried WMV and MP4 with several different videos -- no luck! I don't remember ever having a crash with vs. 8.x, and I used far more effects and multiple images/videos. They
still haven't been able to find the cause for the 15MB increase in memory with every deletion when editing programs. When the memory used reaches approximately 800 MB, the program stops without warning or explanation.
I make to two copies of my programs, A & B, and save back and forth so that, when a crash occurs, I will have at least one good copy. Sad that such a great program has become so buggy.
One of the things we ended up trying was uninstalling VLC and it may be a coincidence but it no longer freezes. We sometimes will get no background but if we restart the song, or just go to a black screen and then back, it applies the video background and runs fine.
