Feature Preview: Gradient Mask

3/24/2007  < Previous  Next >
The following describes a feature of the upcoming April 2007 Edition of SSP.

New to SSP is the Gradient Mask effect. This has the potential to provide some interesting textures for your slide presentations. How it works: Picture a gradient background in your mind, say fading white to black from left to right. Now image if instead of white, you saw a looping video and instead of black you saw the video become transparent and reveal a static image below it. This is how the gradient mask works. With this effect, you can create a lower or side third motion loop using any of the motion loop videos you already have -- and it nicely fades into the background image. With this effect, you can also create a mask that is opaque at the sides but transparent in the middle, or visa versa. You'll probably have fun playing with this one.

The Gradient Mask effect is included in the new Effects Collection 2 plug-in and is available with a Professional Level license.
