SSP Best Practices - Migrating/Moving/Updating SSP to a new machine / computer
Applicable SongShow Plus Versions:
This article applies to all versions of SongShow Plus
Periodically, due to age or hardware failure, a new machine may be needed for SongShow Plus use. In some cases, there may be hardware upgrades for the main presentation machine and the old machine will be used for training or building content. This process can address both scenarios.
The information needed to do this is covered in existing articles and we make the following recommendations regarding the order of the steps for migrating SongShow Plus to a new machine. These steps and order will allow users to ensure the new machine is working as expected before decommissioning or moving the old machine.
**NOTE: Deploying or updating a new machine is the prime time to do some housekeeping in SongShow Plus. Keeping the SSP content tidy will simplify use and management of SongShow Plus. Please review the SSP Best Practices - Housekeeping for SongShow Plus article for details.
Best Practice Steps
- **Verify your new machine meets or exceeds the SSP system requirements. - Very Important first step**
- Install the latest SSP build on your new machine.
- Activate your new machine using a free Workstation license.
